Prayer Update: Nolan Powell
Wednesday, November 25th
Nolan is doing well and the Dr. is optimistic that he got a vast majority of the tumor. The malignant part of the tumor was largely contained to the center (Praise!). Nolan has some residual right leg paralysis from the surgery. Let's continue to pray for Nolan as he begins rehab and recovers from the surgery. Pray for a restoration of movement to the right leg, for physical therapy, and for the upcoming radiation treatments. Also remember to keep lifting Marsha up in your prayers.
Thank you for praying!
The prayer request from Monday was…
This morning their meeting with the doctor revealed that Nolan has a 1½ inch diameter tumor in his brain that is kissing the motor skills portion of his brain. They have 3 options: 1) treat the tumor with radiation, 2) perform a biopsy to determine the kind of cells in order to treat the cells properly, or 3) have surgery to remove 80% of the tumor leaving the part that is touching the motor skills area.
They have a meeting with a neurosurgeon this afternoon to determine the best course of action. This surgeon is one of leading surgeons and if they decide to have surgery there is a 85-87% success rate. However, there is still the possibility that the surgery could affect Nolan ability to walk if something goes wrong.
Nolan and Marsha have asked for prayer that they make the right decision regarding whether or not to have surgery to remove the tumor. They ask that you lift them up in prayer as they seek God to make the right decision regarding this difficult situation. Continue to pray that God would give them peace and strengthen them during their visit at the Mayo Clinic.
